This project entailed the creation of an illustration for a poster design for the Third International Poster Contest organized by the Typography Museum of Chania. The contest theme, “Typography & Printing: Past, Present, and Future,” invited participants to explore the evolution of typography and printing through creative expression. My poster design, which earned the third prize, visually encapsulates the historical significance and ongoing impact of typography, as well as the concern of the increasing prevalence of the digital media.
The central concept of the poster was inspired by the iconic figure of Johannes Gutenberg, the inventor of the printing press, whose work revolutionized the world of typography and printing. The idea was to illustrate Gutenberg sitting atop an hourglass, symbolizing the passage of time and the enduring legacy of typography. The hourglass is filled with typographic elements, representing the continuous flow from the past through the present and into the future.
